Josue Vasquez Discussion #14

The leaked documents related to the significant legal case Roe v. Wade. Supporters of abortion rights might express concern or alarm if the leaked document indicates a potential threat to the landmark ruling. They may view it as a potential attack on reproductive rights and a setback for women’s autonomy and bodily autonomy. Opponents of abortion rights, on the other hand, might view the leaked document as an opportunity for potential legal changes that align with their beliefs. They might express hope that it could lead to a reconsideration or overturning of the Roe v. Wade decision. Justice Anthony Alito’s draft opinion on the Roe v. Wade case uses the phrase “egregiously wrong” to describe Roe, echoing language used by Mississippi Solicitor General Scott Stewart and Kavanaugh in 2020. He also observes that some early proponents of abortion rights had unsavory views in favor of eugenics, suggesting that Roe has had a disproportionate percentage of aborted fetuses are black. Alito’s draft opinion rejects the idea that abortion bans reflect the subjugation of women in American society, noting that the percentage of women who register to vote and cast ballots is higher than the percentage of men. It also rejects the idea that abortion bans reflect the subjugation of women in American society, noting that the percentage of women who register to vote and cast ballots is higher than the percentage of men.

Abortion is a different in every religion .A women has her own right and feminism will support. Identifying what Pro-life is important becaue you cannot agree with one thing but also with another which is the opposite of what you first agreed on.Pro-life is taking a choice away from an individual

“people should be able to do what they wanna do, express themselves, and be free”

Yes, females should be able to do what ever they want with their bodies and they should not change their opinions based on how others feel. Nobody has the right to judge for making the decision of aborting. If a female wants to abort is for a good reason of their own and it should not bother anyone because of the end of the day it will be the mother taking care of that kid. Sometimes circumstances such as money or our surroundings prevents us from bring a baby to this earth that’s why wome females abort because not only are they thinking for themselves but also looking out for that babsy future. Why would I bring a baby to this world if I know I cannot provide all the things it needs, if I do not have time, if the person I was with is not going to be a good father.  A female who cannot give birth for what ever reason should not hav ethe right to talk about abortions neither should a men. Last year I watched how the senate was passing a law in many states about banning abortions and a big amount of young girls appointments were cancelled. What If they were raped, why should they keep a baby that will remind them of their rape? And lastly feminism who support females right should not be against abortions because the definition of feminism is for women to have freedom when they talk, to be heard and about their body.

I believe that women should be able to do whatever they want with their bodies. I don’t understand why it is complicated or why people are making it more difficult to accept. We were all born one, one with decisions, one who decides for themselves we especially don’t need others telling us what to do with our bodies. As a woman who is currently going into adulthood, I like that I can make decisions for myself when it comes to if I want a baby or not. Not only that, younger girls who make mistakes shouldn’t be having a baby forcefully if they don’t want to keep a baby it’s understandable they are babies themselves they don’t need to be forced to do something they don’t want to do. We have human rights and taking it away just blows out everything we women have done to come to where we are in life it’s like a slap in the face. What about kids who are victims of sexual assault they can’t abort because it’s illegal now what has life come to? Kids shouldn’t be going through more than what they have experienced in life. The article” Telemedicine Abortion Provider Rebecca Gomperts Gets Abortion Pills Into the Hands of Those Who Need Them: ‘It’s a Privilege” Gives a clear view of women who want hope for the future of women for instance Rebecca Gompert the video connected to the articles shows how they build a mobile clinic so they can sail international and help women abort in the safest way possible by giving them pills for self abortion. It’s crazy that it has come to that point that places deny women the human rights that people have to travel to help them. I am truly upset about how they treat us women within topics like this because abortion should be allowed for women because, at the end of the day, it’s their body their choice.

Discussion 14

Women should have the opportunity to be able to get abortions because, at the end of the day, it is their own body, and they should have the ability to be able to make their own decision that is best fit for themselves also Healthcare or government assistance should be available to them as well because a lot of women cannot afford to have an abortion depending how much it also cost Recently I have noticed in my experience seeing a lot of women from my high school are having kids now but they had kids mostly during the pandemic and from what I hear the pandemic has made things harder for them because now their kids don’t want to be social Outdoors that case should not be overturned because everyone has the right to decide what is best for them and if I have to be honest in a hypothetical situation where I have a kid I wouldn’t want to have an abortion but the final decision does come down to the mother but me personally I don’t believe in getting abortions because I do feel like that is a life that you are taking away and morally and mentally that that doesn’t sit right with me but like I said that decision that matters is the decision that the mother makes What I learned from the readings is that what people should do is protect and fight for Reproductive Rights but also Healthcare .

Shanice Brown Discussion 14

When the Rod V. Wade documents leaked. I thought that it was very unfair for lawmakers, individuals and the courts to decide on whether a woman should have an abortion or not. Having rights over women’s bodies just don’t sit right with me just for the simple fact that women should be able to control their own bodies and make their own decisions in the end. Women’s constitutional right to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restrictions has a negative impact on women’s rights and their ability to make decisions about their own bodies. Women should be the only one to choose whether they want to have the baby or not. I understand that the state has an interest in protecting the potential life of the fetus but this law goes against the right to Liberty. Women’s rights to choose to have an abortion is no longer protected by the Constitution because they must now have only one option to keep the fetus.

From watching the documentary film “Knock Down The House” four progressive women including Alexanderia Ocasio – Cortez who challenged Democratic incumbent in the 2018 United States House Of Representatives Elections. The four activist women bring both their voices and vision to the political arena to seek change in their communities. What I liked about these women is that they are driven to change their communities, although they are faced by challenges their main goal is  to represent the interests of the people by prioritizing issues such as economic inequality, healthcare reform, and environmental protection.

Mame Leye Discussion#14

The topic I will be discussing is a sensitive one, given the varying perspectives people hold. However, based on my beliefs and religion, I will be addressing it. In the Islamic faith, abortion is prohibited. While Islam is generally lenient about abortion, the acceptability of terminating a pregnancy depends on factors such as the threat to the mother’s well-being, the stage of the pregnancy before or after ensoulment (at the 120th day of gestation), and the presence of fetal anomalies incompatible with life. There is significant variation in religious rulings, but most Islamic scholars concur that ending a pregnancy due to fetal abnormalities is permissible before ensoulment. Afterward, abortion is deemed entirely forbidden, except in cases where the mother’s life is at risk or there is confirmed intrauterine death. Islam values life and encourages parenthood. Nonetheless, the faith acknowledges that life can be complicated, and there are situations where abortion may be necessary, such as in cases of rape or to save the mother’s life.

Abortion is a woman’s right! The pregnant person might stop working while pregnant or after, might stop studying, will not sleep at night, and has to take care of a tiny human for many years 24/7! That’s a huge responsibility in a country with no parental leave and no free aftercare after school. Why is this so hard to understand? Why is a healthcare right taken away from a woman because she might not want a child? It is a question of personal freedom and what we pay taxes for. We also know that women will perceive the surgery if they want to. They will travel, risk lives or go to dangerous places to do it. Roe v. Wade should be canceled. Women should decide not apolition a man who has no access to the perusal reasons of a particular person. We should be careful who we vote for because that is connected to abortion problems. I am very proud of Alexandra Ocasio for speaking confidently for all the women and pushing others to be knowledgeable and act strongly. She also stands for climate change and many social and political adjustments to support those in need, maybe because she is from the Bronx. A woman was killed and died in my country(Poland) because of the abortion ban. People went on the streets. The anti-abortion right is strongly in my country and is supported by the politicians and the church, and that institution cut reproductive rights. People go to black market doctors often. There is a prison sentence for that. Miscarriage is taken to the criminal investigation.

Social justice means fairness, equity, and quality. Feminism is a movement fighting to end women’s exploration, sexiest men’s behavior and oppression, as Bell Hooks tried to explain very clearly. Sex is anatomy and psychology. There are a couple of factors and ways to express gender through behavior, looks, and physical and mental self-the identity. So feminism is a much broader concept and can address more issues if we analyze it more profoundly. I learned what I am in this class, and I understood more about myself in a contest of gender politics and how the patriarchal world is the air we breathe, not even thinking about it while we work and study. There are personal, Institutional, interpersonal, and cultural levels of operation.

I heard stories about racial prejudice, gender struggles, social unfairness, and simple brutal ignorance, even from family members or the doctor’s office. I always appreciate others’ shares because they make you realize the pain. We had read about the New York Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, where 148 women died. This is a horrifying story, painful and full of ignorance. I believe women are the most vulnerable to violence in history. I had a chance to participate in discussions about human rights and freedom, civil rights, and liberties, along with feminism. I understand the importance of fundamental structure and why women didn’t have the same possibilities as men to live their  lives. The history of women is different than that of men. Black feminism is different then feminism. Many stories I heard contained the narrative of oppression in other parts of the World. My friends from class shared touching and painful experiences that I am thankful I heard. It made me closer to every one of them.

I feel capitalism is taking a human from humanity; it created slavery and built a structure that exploits people and drains their strength and hard work with little reward and no benefits.Woman who carry the responsibility to core for family exist under different rules in capitalist world.

Race, Gender, Class and Feminism are social issues that are reflected in our everyday lives when we start the day on the morning ride in the subway, at work or school, and when we come back to our kids who tell us stories from their daily lives in their class. It is painfully vivid in unfairness and rewarding when challenged. Action, activist matter and change is possible if decided to do it. We talked about what we did to protect ourselves and the moment we couldn’t do it  and why. We witness human struggle in many forms while reading about discrimination and injustice and analyzing white privilege. The count of  26 conditions in Peggy McIntosh opened  my imagination.

To better understand the history and current structure, we must face existing ideas about radicating inequality and building new concepts. The unconscious processes that sustain inequality must be discussed, and the dialog must include history. I care for social justice regarding race, gender, sexual identity, national origin, ethnicity, religion, immigration status, economic status, etc. Social justice is the battle of our times across New York City, the nation, and the globe. Social justice is delivering on today’s promises while also accounting for, and reckoning with past harm, persistent harm, and, where applicable, leveling the playing field. That means ensuring, for example, that Black and brown people are brought on in businesses to account for systemic racism, raising women’s pay to account for past and ongoing pay inequality, or seeing that children do not start the school day hungry. We have responsibilities and duties to each other to ensure social justice is done, and this has been my passion. Feminism is a fight for justice, and anyone can add to it from their end. There is no end! My perspective is also driven by world history, personal experience, and vocational experience. I was raised in Soviet-occupied Poland, which gained independence when I was 10. My parents had collaborated against the USSR. We do not seek to save and preserve for the sake of protecting and preserving; we strive to learn and maintain this work to help propel people forward with a clearer view of the past, and the aim of moving forward, perhaps even together. Once more, to understand the forces that fuel structural racism, gender inequality, and class, it’s necessary to know how we got here. Daily’s work seems to offer a roadmap.

Adam Saidi Discussion#14

This a hard topic to talk about since a lot of people have different ways of seeing things, but I will be addressing this topic according to my belief and religion. “In Islam, abortion is forbidden. Islam is considerably liberal concerning abortion, which is dependent on (i) the threat of harm to mothers, (ii) the status of the pregnancy before or after ensoulment (on the 120th day of gestation), and (iii) the presence of fetal anomalies that are incompatible with life. Considerable variation in religious edicts exists, but most Islamic scholars agree that the termination of a pregnancy for fetal anomalies is allowed before ensoulment, after which abortion becomes totally forbidden, even in the presence of fetal abnormalities; the exception being a risk to the mother’s life or confirmed intrauterine death.” I do also believe that it’s cruel to kill an innocent child that havens have done anything especially when there’s a way when people can avoid getting pregnant at the same time some can be unpredictable and everyone should have the right to do whatever they want with their body so I am into both positions that each person on its own and their own belief that whatever decision you making about your body should be respected.

I admire Alexandra Ocasio for establishing herself as a volunteer organizer for Bernie Sanders in the Bronx, learning electoral tactics and activism, and dedicating her life to public service. The first woman of color to defeat incumbent Joe Crowley in her first congressional campaign, she refused to accept corporate contributions and deliberate about the change for the marginalized people Alexandra is very concerned about climate change, reducing air and water pollution, and combating the country’s intertwined economic and racial disparities. Her campaign was entirely supported by volunteers and donations from the general public. Additionally, Paula Jean ran against Senator Joe Manchin to combat the coal industry’s demonization affecting peole in the community.

Furthermore, the Roe v. Wade abortion right is about to be overturned, effectively eliminating women’s authority over their own bodies and resulting in little or no access to abortion in society. People forget that women’s rights are human rights, and it should be illegal for a law to dictate what I should do or say about my own body, whether publicly or privately. This type of law is biased because the government only thinks for itself as it assumed power.  The consequences of voting against abortion rights cannot be quantified because it will limit access to education and job/employment possibilities contributing to societal income inequality.
