Discussion 6

Unfortunately, I cannot decide if I have been successful in the marketplace. On one side I feel I have been. Then again most jobs seem to overwork their employees. It does not matter if it is a retail job or a job in the food industry. The type of job most of the time does not make a difference. I have not always been satisfied with the amount I was getting paid. In the past I have left a job because they were overworking me too much. They did raise my pay when they offered the job, but it still was not enough. People in general are a lot to deal with. I will not go the extra mile if my personal needs are not being met .I often must stop myself from putting so much effort into it because I think to myself, am I getting paid enough for this? However, for my future career I think I will be very successful. I want to be an actor or apart of the behind the scenes. I want to write scripts or direct. I want to costume design or even clean sets. I will take part in anything that allows me to be involved with the play/movie itself. I am willing to start from the ground up. I want to build my resume and make it known that I am a part of every part of the system. From there I can meet new people and move up in my role. Meeting new people will open new opportunities. If I do well that will make people think of me and tell others about me. I can be recommended to other jobs. I feel confident about becoming one of these options because I am actively looking for jobs and auditions. I am doing my part to find a place to start. I will not give up because this is my dream. Now if this were a feminist economy a lot would go different. For example, women will run huge cooperation’s. Women will be CEOs. Women will not be seen just because they are pretty or in a sexual way. We will be seen for our minds and hearts. Women will not be forced to settle in low positions. There will be options to move up and go beyond. Women have so much potential and think big. A feminist economy would completely shed light on the importance of women.

Nice Liliana. I love that your vision for a feminist economy would be one where women are not objectified for their looks. Also, try to think about an economy where it’s not just women at the “top” but where there is no “top” or “bottom.”
