<b>“The Afro Latina From The Ghetto”</b>

 

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>What role do us Americans play in this society? Or better yet what role do I play in this society? I am Afro-Latina who honestly wonders where I fit in this world. I’ve been told that because of my hair texture , the length of my hair , and the fact that I don’t speak Spanish that I’m not Hispanic . I grew up in a home that consisted of one parent , my mother who played both roles in my life . My mother didn’t like the typical “Hispanic tradition” that got passed down on to her . I  didn’t grow up listening to Bachata & eating Arroz Con Dules for breakfast , lunch , and dinner. Instead I grew up finding out about life and my interests on my own , so far it’s going great. As I continue to grow and learn I get a better understanding and idea on how my mother was raised . </span>

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>My society is the hood better known as the “ Ghetto ” . I grew up around firecrackers that got mistaken for gunshots , innocent people’s lives getting taken away, and fighting because somebody looked at you the wrong way but you know that’s normal for people who live in the “Ghetto”. Society expects the the worst when you come from a place like the “Ghetto” well jokes on Society because where I come from and where I live won’t define me . Some of the most influential people that we know and love today came from the ghetto ,they had a goal and they accomplished it . No matter what people will always find something to say about you and where you come from to make you feel ashamed . Facebook itself couldn’t get people to look at the ghetto in a positive way . Media plays a big role for everyone “media see media do” and that’s forever going to be the way of life . As for me I want to use media as my platform to spread my messages, ideas, and talents  not to show off the latest kicks that I saw J-Cole Wearing . The main goal in life is to be different than the average others in this society , not saying that you can’t be influenced by the media but make your own choices . But how can we use media and make it an influential use to the society? </span>

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>In conclusion I see myself as the one who’s gonna make their mark and no one is gonna drag me down, not even society .</span>
