Society is defined as people living together in an organized community. Society for me is defined as not only people living in a community but it’s also trends and how people’s lives, lifestyles and ideas interact, overlap, and influence each other.

In society I am just a student who is trying to be somebody in the future and have a positive impact on my community and others by setting the example that one can be successful despite my background, surroundings, and my neighborhood. My role is to not fall for things that I see a lot of people my age doing in my community. These things consist of selling and or doing drugs, joining gangs, and becoming another statistic by going to jail for whatever reason. My role is to go to school and become a successful person.

Depending on where I am, people may view me differently. In my neighborhood I blend in with the rest because the vast majority all come from Dominican Republic. Therefore we dress, talk, and act fairly similar. However in some places I can be judged based on my looks and background. For example when I had a curly afro i got stopped by the police constantly. They were looking for guns and drugs and I do not associate myself with either of those things but based on my looks and background they may have thought that i did have those things as some young men in my neighborhood tend to have. I grew up seeing all those things but i never associated myself with such things because they never interested me and I want to have a better life. I see myself as a student who goes to school and separates himself from the rest by attending school and investing in his future through education. I thank my mom for that because she taught me that through education, we are able to fulfill our dreams and get a better life. I want to set an example for my 7 year old neighbor who looks up to me.

Sociology is an interesting thing that affects every individual whether they like it or not in a negative or positive way, or both. Some are a product of their environment, and some want change. Sociology affects our way of living, the way we act, what we eat, and overall who we are.

I definitely  agree with you in a number of ways, not only do we get judged on the way we look ,but let’s say you associate yourself with people that look like you and your just hanging out on one of your friends stoop in the summertime , in an majority Caucasian neighborhood, like you said y’all are more likely to create more attention to your crowed not because you guys are being loud and disturbing the peace, not because your enforcing negativity ,but just by the way you look just cause they don’t know what’s going on the’ll probably be likely to tell y’all to disperse or lie on one of your friends or you and accuse someone of having drugs which cause them to do an illegal search. But if one of you stands up for another or if the person stands up for themselves the’ll consider that resisting arrest. In this world people with power tend to abuse it regardless if they have friends or family that look like you the’ll be more likely to judge first.

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Sociologists have divided sociology in two (2) main group ,macro sociology is this category where sociologist studies large issues that affect   the society , and micro sociology in wish they studies issue in the individual level. This two categories allowed them to narrow their studies in a specific manner to have a effective result.</span>

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Emile .D been a conservative came up with the Social Structure that is divided in two (2) function : The Social Function where he believe that society should be like a “ body” where everyone have  it own role, place, and function . But also we have The Social Dysfunction in wish some in the society benefit the society for instance the sick people benefit the hospitals and the high rate of unemployment guarantee the availability of job sicker. </span>

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Marx  created the Classic Function in wish he talked about a society divided in social class  in which we have capitalist made of CEO , rich people . And the lower class made of workers, poor people.</span>

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>And Max vision a individual structure in the society. so we have the Gender Function that segregate the society base on their gender. For example how many female occupied a high job position in the government. Also we have the Symbol Interaction, it’s the way to question why symbols was used for this meaning for example why to shake hands? . All this theories allowed us to focus on the micro or macro scale of our studies  </span>
