Emile Durkheim, Max Weber, and Karl Marx, are all considered to be founders of sociology. The concepts of Emile Durkheim were based on social facts. Durkheim’s theory, functionalism, shows that society is coordinated with several parts that work well adjusted to one another to keep a stable state. He believes if something changes, it affects society altogether. Anomie is when there is a departure of and norms or values that were present in society; this can be caused by a detachment of labor and accelerated social changes. Max Weber’s theory focused on efficiency. His theory, the beaucratic theory, focused on power. Karl Marx came up with the conflict theory; it looks at society as a competition. It can be used to study violence, any injustice, and discrimination. Marx believed that society will never end the competition for resources, so it is unavoidable to be in a state of conflict.
