What does C. Wright Mills say about sociological imagination?
C Wright Mills described sociological imagination as “the vivid awareness of the relationship between experience and the wider society.” Mills idea was how a persons personal problem could affect societies issues.
How does a sociologist define society as a group of people who reside in a defined area, share a culture, and who interact with one another?
Sociologists define groups in many ways but when there are many similarities in their upbringings they focus on their behaviors and experiences. The idea being that we as a person don’t make many decisions but the area we are raised in and the culture we experience at home in our neighborhoods and with social interactions actually make decisions for us as to where we are going and where we will end up. For example a person who grew up with two athletes for parents will tend to stay on that same path and become an athlete as well.
What is the difference between Sociological Imagination and Sociological Perspective?
The difference between sociological imagination and sociological perspective is with sociological imagination a person believes their personal problems is affecting them with society as oppose to sociological perspective is the ability to understand why people do things and behave the way they do.
