This is the finished product of Lauren’s walk cycle animation. There were a couple of things that were different from the storyboard. In the storyboard, Lauren jumps over as branches and onto lower platforms she’s walking along the log. In the final project, she’s doing a simple tip-toeing animation for simplicity’s sake.

I learned a lot of things while doing this project. Mostly about planning ahead but also about what it takes to be a proper animator. I’m glad I was able to finish it.

This is my walk cycle loop of Lauren. I animated the background to move as she is tip-toeing to create the illusion of movement. Overall, this was the toughest process I worked on throughout the assignment. Mostly because of the conflict between my computer hardware and Adobe. I am thankful to receive help as I had received.

This is the forest background of the walk cycle animation. Now that I’m looking at it as a whole picture, I realized that the trees look really far away making it look like Lauren would be walking from a very high place which was not my intention. The trees were meant to be much closer and the log was meant to be just over the river. I do still like it but I realize I need to plan where things go better. ( Composition )

This is a rough animation of my character Lauren. Her walk cycle is supposed to simulate her her walking carefully over a tree branch. I also wanted to display her excitement. I tried to apply the the principles of slow in/out to mimic this. It was a bit difficult.

This is a storyboard for the final project. I wanted to put an emphasis on her environment through her movement, sound and the detail of the background.

This is Lauren. She is a adventurous girl but can be very lazy. She has a special knack for all things that are not of this earth. So much so that she will go out of her to explore things outside of her horizon. She believes in life outside of earth. She is deeply interested in what lays at the bottom of the ocean. She often is scared, but her curiosity often begets her. This sometimes leads her into dangerous situations. But it often leads her to some of the most amazing experiences and events in her life.

This is a simple flour sack animation that shows a flour sack’s emotion through movement. This was fun to do but it was hard getting the animation to look somewhat fluid.
