Hi Caitlyn, your snapshot photo tells a million words, it shows a strong proud independent woman holding her own. She looks as if she is fierce and on the ready to take on anything. This is exactly how women should hold themselves to high standards when dealing with patriarchy and oppression.
“Peg the patriarchy” those three words tells a whole story.
I’m glad you agree, Lyn! I was apprehensive in posting this because of the controversy surrounding this statement! Worn by Cara Delavigne at The MET Gala. I feel “peg the patriarchy” is a fearless statement. The model Cara openly identifies as gay and was making a statement as a woman. I know the term “pegging” can be convoluted. I, as a former sex worker, understand the message at hand. I think the message is clear. We as women need each other. We live in a male-dominated world that affects our choices, acts, and thoughts. Peg them, they created this.
Hello Caitlyn, I really like your post because this was one of my favorite outfits from the MET Gala. I think it really says a lot and it will definitely make people more aware as they see someone they admire on the red carpet fight for what they believe in.
