Growing up gender roles never been a thing in my household. My mother always made it clear to both me and my brother that anything that needs to be done around the house should be done by either one of us. When the dishes needed to be done she didn’t just call me, she called both me and my brother. Sometimes he would wash them and other times I would. When the house needed to be swept he did it at times with no complaints because that’s just how we were raised. they are so many expectations from society when it comes to how a boy and a girl should behave and what they should be doing. but who said there’s a right from wrong? who says it’s wrong for boys to wear pink ? who says girls can’t be tough? The article “Sex & Gender” made me realize how much pressure society puts on kids instead of just letting them be kids.

I applaud your mom for raising you and your brother the way she did. It’s sad how so many parents still have the mentality that women do all the housework and men sit back and relax. And so many men walk around not knowing how to do basic things like cooking or cleaning and think that it’s ok.
