When you look at sex and gender, at the first glimpse I can see how one can become confused with all of the letters, signs and signals that is affiliated with it. However, once you begin to examine it a little further you come to realize that it is not at all what it looks like to the naked eyes. Sex doesn’t always mean intimate interaction between two consenting adult, but it refers to anatomy, physiology and intersex which includes sex chromosomes, sex hormones, sex organs and external genitalia as written in the article (Sex and Gender 101). While, according to the article “Sex and Gender 101” Gender mainly involves the social and cultural norms that is expected of males and females, they are expected to adhere to certain roles because of the gender they were born with. Meanwhile gender can be categorized into different segments like gender assignment, gender identity, and gender expression with each one giving a different explanation of what they really are, for example, gender assignment means that a person is categorized as either a masculine or feminine gender, it is all in accordance to their external genitalia. In the world there are many people that identify themselves as transgender, gender neutral and nonbinary. However, people can also define their gender in many other ways. Society has poisoned itself when it comes to sex and gender, Where males can behave a certain way with little or no repercussions whereas if a female behaves the same way they are looked down upon in a negative way. With this in mind, males and females are still similar but different. Females have higher levels of estrogen and progesterone while males have higher levels of testosterones. Females usually have two copies of the X chromosome and males typically have one X and one Y chromosome. In a nut shell gender and sex is a unique combination.
