While reading “The Handsomest Drowned Man” by Gabriel García Márquez it really makes me attracted to the story as it gives it truly makes you wonder how others see and contemplate you, all things considered like how the people in this story give life to death man and how it treated their village and also In the story, the body of a suffocated man cleans up in a little, distant town by the sea Before the finish of the story, his essence has impacted them to make their own town and their own lives better compared to what they had recently envisioned conceivable. The suffocated man appears to assume the state of anything the villagers have ever seen. Maybe this story was given to make us understand that it contends a genuinely incredible individual has the ability to transform others, to motivate them to be better, to make them need to be remarkable.

Hi Mohamed! I agree completely, the story does open the door for consideration on how others interpret and view people as a whole. I truly appreciate the emphasis on how one individual can change, impact, and motivate others to be better and grow. I too believe we were meant to read this short story to understand the differences of others and how we can learn without the narrative created in our own heads of what something may seem.
Mohammed, I love that you mentioned, “this story was given to make us understand that it contends a genuinely incredible individual has the ability to transform others, to motivate them to be better, to make them need to be remarkable.”
Your take on this has led me to believe an idea that at a person’s funeral the same may occur. My apologies this may be off topic, but you can tell me what you think or even if you agree or disagree.
For example, as humans we live busy lives sometimes, we do not interact with one another whether its family or friends like we should. Until a person within our family or friends or someone we know from afar may die and leave this Earth in silence. It is then that people no matter if that person who expired may be good or bad, will have everyone even those we haven’t spoken to in years, come together to lay this beautiful soul to rest. Such as what the villagers did to the Drowned Man. We come together to share stories, laughter, and memories before we send the deceased into the sea. Would you agree or disagree?
Hello Mohamed.
I completely agree; the story does raise questions about how others define and perceive people in general. This story was written to show how one person can wield so much power over us that it can alter how others perceive us.
