I always think as if all poems are cryptic. The reasoning is due to different styles of expression writing. Some poetry can have a vague or complex perspective to the audience yet have a clear theme of choice that a poet wants to reveal. It is usually up to the readers to decipher what the poet truly wants to convey in their thought of view. William Shakespeare for example for those that can understand early modern English and translate Shakespeare’s usage of words into late modern English. Not only that, the context that is given by the poet would also depend on the reader that is studying Shakespeare’s language usage in poetry. There is a variety of examples of poetry being known as cryptic when there are languages that are being used in writing that are not familiar to the audience. Yet give interest to those who enjoy studying poetry.

I concur all sonnets are enigmatic. The thinking is because of various styles of articulation composing. Some verse can have an unclear or complex viewpoint to the crowd yet have an unmistakable subject of decision that a writer needs to uncover. It is typically dependent upon the perusers to unravel what the artist genuinely needs to convey in their considered view. Growing up I could have done without sonnets despite everything don’t as a result of how the phrasings on some poems.I enjoyed the sonnets that had a decent musical to it rather than a messed up beat where you can’t actually comprehend what’s happening.
I can agree with the enigmatic of various styles of articulation compositions in sonnet. As well free verse, blank verse, and narrative poetry.
Hello J D, do you read or write poetry? While I think a person has to really enjoy the art of poetry as you have to decipher and find its hidden meaning. It’s the language for me, more of like Shakespeare but once understood reveals so many different feelings and sounds. Some can relate to the experiences and observations of human life and the universe around us. When I was younger, I was into writing journals, it was a way of expressing myself on an important event that occurred, it was an experience needed to write about. Then I thought I let my imagination run wild but now looking back at it, it could’ve been poetry or a wisdom language. Life happens and we stop doing the things we once did. Like with William Shakespeare, he doesn’t reject the idea of love in sonnet 130, “My Mistress’s Eyes Are Nothing Like the Sun.”

I could agree, poems are more cryptic instead of blunt because the use of literary device such as metaphor and symbols. When poems are cryptic it makes it harder for the audience to understand because of the use of unfamiliar words. One thing I did learned from reading poems is that being cryptic makes the poem more interesting and fun for some readers.
