In reading all these poems, my view on poetry has not changed that drastically. I still think poems are drastically overdramatic and annoying, but I have learned that not all poems are as bad. There are basic poems with little lines that can evoke many feelings, while others do not. I have learned that poems drastically differ from one another depending what type of poem you are writing. There are ones that rhyme and ones that do not. Most are written to evoke a feeling that most people will understand and connect with in some way. That is the whole point of poetry to evoke some kind of feeling in someone and understand it in their own point of view. Also, I have learned that repeated lines are meant to draw attention, I always tended to ignore the repeated lines and get annoyed at them and stop reading the poem like in Sonnet 43 how the author repeats “how they love thee” in different ways.

Hi Angela, I love the honesty that you have on the view on poems, yes I agree that they are overly dramatic but it’s also fascinating that it was one of the most valued in literature during the renaissance period. You’re also correct that poems differ and I also did too learn that some lines that are repeated are meant to draw the attention of the reader, that is why poems that involve romance that I’ve read in my opinion have repetitive lines to keep me reading.
Hi Angela I completely agree with your opinion that certain poems can be drastically overdramatic and annoying at times and poetry are based on a persons own point of view and carries evokes some type of mood and feeling but I do think that that use of reputation in poetry are meant to draw the attention of the reader, and repetitive lines are what that keeps the readers engaged and interested with the poetry and keeps them going.
Angela, I’m happy to hear that you have learned that “not all poems are as bad.” This, I think, is a giant leap. If you take that away from these two weeks of reading poetry, you’ve taken something.
Hi Angela, I agree with you, personally, I’m not a fan of poems, neither reading and writing them because I tell a story from my view but others might look at it differently, and when reading a poem is just a pain to understand the words and why does the work together. For meself when writing it, the first few sentences it could to great but after that, it watching a horror movies.
