In the beginning of the story “Salvation” by Langston Hughes. He was a young boy that trusted his aunt’s words she stated that he would be saved by Jesus she was telling him everything that he wanted to hear and he liked the sound of it, so that’s when he started to have faith in Jesus. When he entered the church his mood and also his belief changed as the night went on. He saw that everyone was getting saved besides him and the young boy named Westly. He thought lying about being saved was going to benefit him, but it ended up backfiring him. guilt and fear started to take over him he felt bad about what he did and he was scared to mention what he did because he was going to be viewed as the bad guy in the church so all he can do is cry.

This is the means by which he changes as for the grown-ups around him. I particularly like your observation regarding how imperceptive the grown-ups are. I also agree that he is the start perusers see an extremely trusting and deferential young man. as u said, lying about being saved planned to help him, instead it wound up blowing up him which led him to culpability and dread and he regretted and was frightened to make reference to how he treated him and he would have been seen as the miscreant. so all he had left to do is cry. Nobody acknowledges what has befallen the kid both as far as his sentiments about the local area and regarding his sentiments about confidence.
Hi, Alimata. I also agree with your statement. Langston was starting to feel guilty at the end of the short story because he was lying about being saved and thought it was going to benefit him, but it didn’t. He also started to think if Jesus was real or was everyone faking it saying they saw him or were saved. At the beginning of the story, he was ready to be saved and see Jesus but in the end, those feelings changed.
