The vignette that made the strongest impression on me is “Darius and the Clouds“. In this episode, the philosophical aspect of the first paragraph has amazed me. In a poetic language the author explains that the environment around her is a sad place and that beauty and happiness around are very limited. “Still we take what we can get and make the best of it”(Cisneros, 33). In the second para, the author talks of a boy she doesn’t like much because he tries to act tough doing demeaning acts. Even though the disturbing vibe of Darius, something he said was quite meaningful to the author. He pointed out a cloud saying it was god, which shed a light of hope within the author. The took the one meaningful thing out of a character she didn’t like and made the best out of it.
