In “Oedipus the King” line 181-188 “What is the sweet spoken word of God from the shrine of Pytho……………..immortal voice, child of golden Hope.” represents the offering of prayer to the Gods in fear of the fate of Thebes and it’s people. In the first line the chorus represents it’s curiosity to know about the fate destined upon Thebes and it’s people. Soon, this curiosity adds up with fear and terror of the unknown fate. So the chorus offers prayers to Apollo also known as “Delian Healer”. The chorus asks Apollo the consequences of the injustice and cruelty which is about to or will strike Thebes. The chorus represents the desperate will to know about the destiny as they ask the child of golden hope (Apollo) again to speak to them, In conclusion, the chorus represents fear and curiosity to know about the unknown.
