Diana Quispe Discussion week one

In the short story Salvation written by Langston Hughes is a 12 year old boy that went to church with his aunt one Friday morning to be saved by Jesus. His aunt claimed that he will see and even feel Jesus , As the time came the priest is calling each kid one by one to be saved by Jesus but Langston did not see or feel anything. He felt pressured, He was not trying to be rebellious or rude . He was trying to see Jesus Christ . Langston starts thinking maybe there’s something wrong with himself or maybe there’s something he’s not doing right because he was looking for a  sign to touch him to make him move physically or emotionally but he wasn’t getting any of that . At the end he finally gets up and goes to the priest and asked to believe in Christ as his lord and savior. He does so under pressure but in reality he never felt anything and I believe this is the epiphany for him and the last time he believed in Jesus Christ and lost all faith . He feels betrayed that he didn’t see Jesus since he was waiting for him to appear . This lingers with him into adulthood.
