I believe that for my research paper I would try to focus my thesis about how fairy tales often describe the absence of parent’s figures. Fairy tales like Snow White and Hansel and Gretel reflect how parents are absent in situations that they were most needed for. I will try to drive my research on the psychology view of this topic to try to make a deeper analysis of fairy tales. I was looking for a good article to support my arguments. However, I haven’t found the right one yet. I’m going to do a little bit more research on the BMCC database to find an article that can support my thesis. I believe that as I mentioned before I would include Snow White in my paper. I’ll probably pick another one but I’m still thinking of which one. I would come up with another fairy tale to back up my points.

Good afternoon, Gabriela, it’s so funny, you and I are thinking about writing about the same fairytales and about the same subject, the absent parents. I was thinking about writing about this subject as well, Children that have no parents or just absent parents or parents that neglect them, is so sad for the children. They just roam the streets hungry and helpless. I guess my heart breaks when, I hear stories like this. We know that this really does go on in this country and others. Parents just abandon their kids to the streets and other places. Young children need help and guidance, and parents need to be present.
Hey that’s a really interesting thesis! I definitely see how fairy tales are full of parents who are nowhere to be found when things get tough. Snow White’s evil stepmother is the perfect example, right? She ditches Snow White in the creepy forest!
