Hi Amen, you hit it on the nail with this one. When I first read this story I overlooked the grandmother’s controlling behaviors because she wanted things to go her way. But after they suffered the car accident, I believe that the author may have used the Misfit as a symbol to showcase the true generosity, wisdom, and humbleness that the grandmother had when they approached her, presenting how events and circumstances can develop and change one’s perception of not only life but themselves as well.
