My understanding of Oedipus the King is about a six out of ten. In my opinion, because we are so used to modern English, the vocabulary or wording was a little hard to grasp. That was the main reason for why the play’s old English made it difficult to understand. That being said, I did enjoy reading the play, and it was more enjoyable when my classmates got to play characters. I found the play to be interesting.If I had to choose, I would like Creon to play the part. Through his interactions with Oedipus, we were able to look at morality and the relationship between power and authority. Creon’s transformation from a loyal subject to a troubled king was interesting.

Hello Falaq, Yes I agree with wanting to represent Creon in the play. most of the time Oedipus was confused about his entire life, Jocasta was always doomed fro the beginning of the play as well as Oedipus. I could imagine the fear that was going through the messengers head as he was the one that had to relay the message to both Oedipus, Jocasta and Creon as well. Having to tell of such a deed he was asked to do with the people that can and will take your life if you speak the right word in the wring tone would have made my anxiety go through the roof. It’s a good thing Oedipus was a wise man because even though he did get aggravated with the old messenger man, he remained calm and constantly reminded himself that it was not the messages fault.
