My Research essay will be on Langston Hughes’ “Salvation”. The story focuses on faith and the power people’s words/actions have on others. My thesis will be “Through an analysis of his personal experience, Langston Hughes explores the themes of faith, disillusionment, and the power of false narratives in Christianity.”
I will be using literary critiques and biographies to support my thesis. Literary critiques will give me another opinion on the author’s beliefs/experiences in faith. Biographies about the author will help me better understand the author and his work.
JSTOR and BMCC databases to find secondary sources. I have searched both and, so far, JSTOR has been more beneficial to me/for my work. I have found a few articles that will help in better understanding the author and his experiences.

Hello Raiza, I agree with you that ‘Salvation’ explores the themes of faith, disillusionment, and the power of false narratives in Christianity. The story shows how Hughes becomes disappointed in his belief and begins to question it. As the story concludes, it becomes clear that the pressure Hughes received from the community has affected his beliefs. I am also writing about ‘Salvation,’ and my argument will support the idea that the pressure Hughes experienced had a profound impact on his beliefs, ultimately leading to his disappointment
Hello Raiza, I have also seen your comment on my post and wanted to say that I also am struggling to find solid pieces of information for the story. Not that there are no options, there are too many to choose from. Therefore, I am trying to eliminate the sources that wouldn’t make sense to use or are not the best fit. Since this story by Langston Hughes explores many themes, we should try to find reliable sources to support our specific points.
