“ A Good Man is Hard To Find” this story has a narrative of a 7 person household who took a family trip to Florida but had a disagreement with the grandma because she wanted to go to Tennessee. Which leads to a tragic road trip. In the book the family road was all superficially to the grandma because of her belief and upset feeling about the trip from not wanting to go to Florida, causing them to encounter major problems in life which they will soon realize. I feel like the interior of this story is to show the conflict the family has but hides it behind the trip. The grandmother wanted everyone to think that she knows what is best for them and with her action almost cost them their life. The family will now realize that some people are good and bad and some may have evil spirits that can cause the outcome of something very dangerous.

Hi Jayden ,I completely agree with you while reading the passages I was starting to adjust and felt the same way. It’s crazy how evil can appear to someone in different forms or ways, are you religious? I believe in good and bad in life. Sometimes people are evil by mentally and spiritually. While reading it, the line where the grandma was telling them Tennessee was better than Florida stood out to me, because the grandmother was controlling.
I do agree that the grandmother wanted everyone to think she knew best, and her manipulation definitely cost them their lives. The story is definitely layered and portrays many aspects of American Society within its interior, from family dysfunction to underlying aspects of personality disorder we see in the Misfit. The story really shows us that any of us can be in the wrong place at the wrong time and O’Conner’s use of dark humor and suspense makes the story that much more enjoyable to read.
