The main character in “Araby” is a young, inexperienced boy who dreams of romance and adventure. He has a crush on Mangan’s sister and makes a promise to buy her a gift at a bazaar. His infatuation with her leads him to go to the bazaar, but when he gets there, he realizes it’s not as magical as he thought it would be. This makes him feel sad and disappointed, and he realizes that his romanticized view of the world was unrealistic. The boy’s character is important because he represents the idea of growing up and losing innocence. His dreams and desires show how young people can be naive and idealistic. His disappointment at the bazaar marks a turning point where he realizes that the world is not always what it seems. He learned that sometimes things don’t go as planned and that he needs to be more realistic. This is an important step towards growing up and becoming more mature. Overall, the boy’s character shows how growing up can be difficult and disillusioning.

Hello Omar, your post grabbed my attention because we both have some parallels in our interpretation of the story. The same way you mentioned how young people in general can be naive, “naive” was a word I used to describe the main character in my post. Even though the author does a great job using imagery to depict a dark and sad setting, I like the point you make about the lesson at the end being seen as a positive learning experience.
Hi Omar, I do agree with you that the boy is interested in buying a gist for Mangans sister but has no luck in doing so. Yes the boys character does tell us that he is innocent and just following whatever comes to his mind and has and imagination that represents a fantasy world ignoring the reality
Hi Omar, I also agree with your post. I agree with analyzation upon the young boy. I like the point that you make about the kid being impatient and innocent. At first when a kid is very enthusiastic they tend to do things out of excitement in this case the young boy wanted to buy a gift for her crush. But once he snapped out he realized that he was just in a fantasy.
