I feel like I did the best job and was most successful on essay 3. I shocked myself by how creative I made the poem flyer, and I also was very satisfied with the grade I got from it. It was a fun assignment to do and I’d also say it’s my favorite assignment of this semester.
I would say that discussion boards in general are work that I could’ve done better on. A few of them I didn’t do and a tiny bit of them I didn’t receive full 100% credit because I either didn’t respond to a student or I posted my discussion on the weekend.
I’d say the main thing I learned this semester is how to really read poems and understand them. It’s kind of general but I’ve always struggled with understanding the true meanings of poems and this semester definitely helped me on that. I’d say I gotten better at understanding poems and being able to talk about them.
Hi Amanda, it sounds like essay 3 was a major success for you. It is great to hear that you impressed yourself with your creativity on the poem flyer and genuinely enjoyed the process. Reflection is an important tool, and recognizing areas like discussion boards where you could improve shows that you really looked back on what could have been done better. Time management and participation can be tough, but now you know what to work on for the future. Learning how to understand and interpret poems is such an accomplishment I can relate to.
Amanda, wow, you were shocked at your own abilities! That makes me feel great about this class and especially about Essay 3. You didn’t even know how good you could be, and now you do. I am smiling. I’m also so happy to hear that your attitude towards reading poetry has changed. This is also a very big development—to feel more confident and comfortable with a whole genre of writing. This is wonderful to hear!
