One assignment I feels I am most successful in was creating the Poetry Flyer. The reason being because I got do my assignment on to research no copyright pictures, a poem and use the BMCC Online Library to get the author’s Biography and apply it to my flyer. Also, it was different form the regular essay.
However, I think I could have done better in my essays and understanding the literary devices use in poetry. Writing essays in this course is completely different from how I normally write them. I should have tried to understand applying citation and in quote more and the various literary devices use in poetry. Trying to figure out the literary devices and interprets what it meant is one of the areas I need to work on.
Also, one thing I learn this semester is the structure of a paragraph, applying quotes and citations. Also, writing thesis, researching primary and secondary sources to my essays was also a huge help. In would try to apply whatever I’ve learnt in this course to my essays going forward, especially in writing the thesis and paragraph structuring.

Hello Jennifer,
I really enjoyed the poetry poster too—it was such a refreshing break from the usual essays, especially considering how detailed and in-depth Professor Conway’s paper assignments tend to be.
The citations were definitely a challenge, but remembering to use the present tense consistently for both the paper and the quoted material really helped me better understand proper citation practices.
I also found the emphasis on the thesis incredibly valuable. It was a great reminder that a strong thesis should be so clear and direct that anyone reading the paper can immediately understand its focus.
Hey Jenefeir,
My most successful assignment was the poetry flyer as well. I feel like a learned a lot about poetry while doing that assignment. I can relate to what you said about the literary devices in poetry. When we first started doing poetry i had some trouble with interpretation and understanding the different literary devices as well. I think many of us can agree that the detailed and specific outlines that were given for each essay really helped to write more structured essays. This will be a great skill to have especially out in the work world. Great job on your post this week! I can relate to all the points you’ve made.
Jenefier, I’m so glad you feel you will take what you practiced in this course in terms of essay structure into other courses. And yes, writing a literary essay is completely different from writing an informative or comparative essay for ENG 101. But for many classes, the use of primary and secondary sources will be required, and if you know how to manage these sources, your essays will have quality. I loved looking at the poetry flyers too. I think you all deserved a break, as Nan sort of suggested here.
