In the story “Where Are You Going Where Have You Been” by Joyce Carol Oates I agree with the perspective of it being a inverted fairtytale because it starts off the same way as many fairy tails with the beautiful girl living her life being resented and envied by her mother because of her looks and being compared to her siblings. It starts off peaceful then takes a bad turn, where the villain tries to ruin the princess life but unlike normal fairytales Connie doesn’t have a prince charming to come save her in this one. The villain in this story also have a fairytale like name Arnold Friend which if you look at the similarities of his name tell you exactly what he is. Korb breaks down his name perfectly “even his name, which is by no coincidence close to Arch Fiend”.
