The activity that broadened my ideas about poetry and taught me something new which also surprised me is activity 1 2 and 3. I’ve learned rhythm and rhyme from a young age its fun singing along poems but i never understood anything about it. Rhyme adds power to the lines of poetry that’s why we remember certain childhood poems, poetry is a form of expression and it let us get our feeling out. I love to see how words get connected that make our experience excited while writing it. I’ve never heard of the word sonnet until today it took me by surprise and i will be looking at poetry very differently. Sonnet make poetry fun because we put the rhyming words together which are Octave meaning eight lines, and sestet meaning six lines.

Kathyann, thanks again for starting things off. I’m glad you liked the activities. I know that the videos are a little odd, but they impart really good information, I think, in a clear way. I’m excited that you are just discovering sonnets in this course. I’m sure you’re impressed by how intricate and difficult to write they are with all their many structural rules.
Hey Kathyann! I feel the same way. I thought I enjoyed poetry before understanding how theyre structured. I actually look forward to looking up Italian and English sonnets and comparing them and seeing how much more I understand them now because I can understand how and why they’re built the way they are. I think it’ll have a bigger impact on me when im done reading it and impactful reading is my favorite. Thank you for sharing!
