Poetry was never interesting to me but reading these poems and getting to know about the meaning in depth helped me understand the actual reason why people write poetry I learned that poetry is used to express ones feeling in a more broader way and explain how an individual feels about a certain thing or person.the poem that I was intrigued by was “My mistress eyes are nothing like the son” by Willian shakespheare, I understood the deeper meaning behind that poem was William shakespheare telling the reader and expressing his feelings for his wife, he basically says that his wife is nothing special she isn’t the most beautiful women on the planet she doesn’t have outstanding attributes but in his eyes he wouldn’t choose anyone over her. This poem gave me an idea that poetry is a way in which person can express their feelings in a much extensive way.

Yaqoob, thanks for keeping an open mind about poetry. I think the message in Sonnet 130 is a good one, and it is delivered with humor. Nobody back then—or now—expects to read a love poem full of insulting references.
