Poetry is a mellow and smooth storytelling format. And even a lil touch of horror if the writer places it right. I like poetry and I think of it as something you can read while relaxing or just bored. But there was a poem that did struck me in a memorable way. The lake of Innisfree by William butler Yeats. This poem reminded me of when I was a small child who would go to the park with my family to make bbqs and I would roam around on my bike. I would always stop by this little spot where you can see the lake and ducks and geese just flying around and squawking. Fishermen on the bridge with a cooler on their side ready with beer or ice for the prize they catch. The sounds of the dragon flys and an unknown creature making its rattling sound like a rattlesnake. Just as Mr butler yeat said “while I stand on the roadway or on the pavements grey, I hear it in the deep hearts core”.

Kevin, what a beautiful post! Maybe you should write a poem about that experience from childhood! You made me remember when I used to fly around on a bicycle attuned to the sound of wind in the trees, feeling the air rushing by. I just love all the details—the fishermen with the cooler, all the sounds of the creatures. Just wonderful. You definitely get this poem. Keep hearing it “in the deep heart’s core.”
