“Literature is painting, architecture, and music” – Yevgeny Zamyatin
This quote really speaks to me because I like to make music myself. I feel the quote points out that multiple forms of expression can be literature, not just essays, stories, or articles. I can relate this to many things I have read and experienced. I have read songs that set a scene and created an image in my head of what was going on. I feel like literature is something that provides a reader or listener with something to picture, feel, or provokes thoughts. Recently I saw something ( more specifically questions about older architecture ) that asked why we don’t see architecture like there was back in older times. Those building from back then tell a story and provide cultural representation. The same can be applied to paintings or drawings. The artists are telling a story through that medium. My brother draws and he always has a story behind the images he creates.
