She embraces the possibility of existence without her better half’s presence, just to have her expectations run when he suddenly gets back. In Emily Dickinson’s poem”The wife,” the writer investigates the subject of cultural assumptions and the concealment of uniqueness. The poem tells the narrative of a lady who at first adjusts to the requests of a man yet in the long run understands the expense of forfeiting her personality and freedom to meet his prerequisites. Both the stories are similar They tell us the story of a 19th century marriage and the role of women. How women are treated at that time is shown. They both show the freedom, unfairness and independence in the marriage.
