Timeless human experiences or behaviors I found in my reading of Oedipus the King is that Oedipus makes choices based on his personal thoughts and feelings, which he utilizes to generate new and unusual behaviors because of several influences, such as seeing his parents run their kingdom and feeling good about himself. Oedipus developed his personality through harming others, and as a result, he evolved into who he is now. Oedipus’ parents, for instance, were King and Queen. He has spent his whole childhood surrounded by the royal family, so by watching his father, he learns what a king is supposed to be like. He could be portraying the powerful behavior of his own father. The main motivation beneath Oedipus’ actions is pride, he acts in ways that make him feel emotionally rewarded. With the position of power that comes with becoming king, he turns rude and harsh. Our decisions are influenced by our emotions, which play an important part in decision-making.

Hello, Brianna. I agree we often make decisions and actions based on our emotions. And if you are someone who can not regulate your emotions this can lead to you making decisions that are out of your ordinary character. Or even your perception of your reality being weakened as we saw with Oedipus. I believe that stories like this are great for teaching lessons to their audience. With this story having a meaningful theme that your pride can be your very downfall.
Hi Brianna, thanks for sharing your observation with us on the timeless human experiences and behaviors portrayed in “Oedipus the King.” It is indeed fascinating to explore the motivations and influences behind Oedipus choices and actions .Oedipus’s reliance on personal thoughts and feelings when making decisions is a relatable aspect of human behaviour. We often draw judgments and emotions to guide our actions ,even if they may lead to unforeseen consequences.
I agree with you, In the story of Oedipus, we see that he does things based on his thoughts and feelings. This is because of different influences, like seeing how his parents ruled the kingdom and feeling good about himself. Oedipus learned how to act by watching his father, who was the king. He might have copied his dad’s strong behavior. His main reason for doing things is pride, and he acts in ways that make him feel good emotionally. When he became the king, he became rude and harsh. This shows that our emotions and pride are a big part of how we make any decision.
Hey Brianna sanchez,
I aggree with your thought that oedipus take decision on his personal thinking what he likes that not good for the coty people. And he kill his father and marry to his mother that is not correct but he started blamming to his close ones that is not correct.
Hello Brianna, I agree with your statement, I do believe that people let go due to their emotions. Emotions play a big role in life because it can bring you to doing things that you can regret. you can get a lot of judgement and criticism but you should never let that decide your future unlike oedipus actions on becoming king were so harsh. it made his actions be out of place and due to his emotion and pride it lead him to kill.
