Summary

According to Pollan, the omnivore’s dilemma is the cause of having too many food options which makes it difficult to pick food to buy or eat. In the text, Pollan says “Certainly the extraordinary abundance of food in America complicates the whole problem of choice". What Pollan is trying to say is that we have so many food to eat. But do we stop to think about where it comes from and how its affecting us. In most cases no

8. Pollan brings up some possible cause on why eating meat is a problem. Due to vegetarianism and animal rights more people are becoming vegetarians. Pollan also brings up cultures as a reason on why people eat meat. He states that "For the most part, our culture has been telling us for millennia that animals were both good to think". Which means that people don't find a issue with eating meat but society wants to draw attention to it. Simply because they are trying to like about lives, they are basically saying every living thing matters.

9. The Schizoid quality that Pollan identifies in the relationship between humans and animals today is which the other describes as " sentiment and brutality". Pollan goes on and states that "Half the dogs in America will receive Christmas presents this year, yet few of us ever pause to consider the life of the pig- an animal easily as intelligent as the dog- that becomes the Christmas ham”(3). Which means that the author is saying that us a people pick and choose what we care about.

10. A point that pollan highlights from Berger's essay is that "“the loss of everyday contact between ourselves and animals- specifically the loss of eye contact- has left us deeply confused about the terms of our relationship to other species". Being that we don't have real relationships with ours animals we tend to forget about their feelings. I'm pretty sure animals feel things just as humans do. We honest don't even care about the animals. All we know is that its food and we can make many dishes with them.
