To me, feminism means equality, justice, and power for woman and gender equality. It’s empowering woman to make choices on their own. Being a feminist means fighting for a fair world where everyone can live free from stereotypes and limitations. I do consider myself a feminist because I believe in equality. It is not fair for men to have more privileges and opportunities than woman. The gender pay should be equal, women deserve equal pay from equal jobs and deserves to be treated with respect.
Ngozi Adichie defines feminism as a problem of inequality and she suggests that the problem should be fixed. Ngozi Adichie says “ A feminist is a man or woman who says “yes, there is a problem with gender as it is as today, and we must fix it, we must do better” page 10. According to this perspective, a feminist is anyone, man or woman who knows that there is gender issues in the society. Is someone who seeks for a positive change of gender and fights for equality to make a better world where everyone has equal opportunities and rights.

Hey Heydi.
Your essay is really cool. I appreciate your honesty when you said “I do consider myself a feminist because I believe in equality”. Even though I would not consider myself a feminist, I think equality for all people is a thing we can all agree on. I agree with you that you want men and women to get access to the same privileges. Why should men and women do the same jobs but men get paid more? This is sad and as Adichie said, we need to fix it.
I love how you described feminism! You really captured how it’s about equality, breaking stereotypes, and giving women the power to make their own choices. And equal pay is such a big deal, and it’s crazy that it’s still an issue we’re fighting for today. The Adichie quote you used is perfect, too. It really emphasizes how important this movement is. It’s amazing to see how passionate you are about making things fair for everyone, as women we have to be passionate about things like this.
