Yaydey Rivera Conversation #3

In Taylor Lorenz article “Snapchat Wants You to Post. It’s Willing to Pay Millions, Lorenz discusses how Snapchat is trying to standout from their competitors by using the users of their platform. With features like Spotlight, Snapchat rewards creators for going viral whether they are an influencer or not. Lorenz tells of many success stories of everyday people who have improved their lives because of features like spotlight such as Katie Feeney, a 18 year girl who earned many to attend to any college. While Snapchat users are being rewarded for making viral content, Snapchat is also benefiting from these users spreading the word that anyone can become a Snapchat creator. Putting it in competition with many other popular platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

In response to the article, I definitely feel like I would like a give a hand at creating content. When it comes to social media I mostly use it to capture memories or communicate with friends or family. I’m someone who rarely posts and when I do it’s on a story that only last for a day. Ever since I have had access to social media I have been more a content consumer then a producer. After reading the article I feel I would like to be a bit more open on a social media and see how it turns out. Although I don’t want to be an influence, posting could be a good way to not only gain a community but to branch out and get use to networking.
