William Hernandez Conversation #3

In the article “Snapchat Wants You to Post. It’s Willing to Pay Millions” by Taylor Lorenz, explains how people are gaining wealth on a social media platform called Snapchat. The platform introduced a feature called “Spotlight” where users can post short videos. “Spotlight” was made to compete with other social media platforms like “ Tiktok”. Influencers and regular people realized this new feature allows them to earn more commission than any other platform. Creators were earning commissions from these videos at a fast rate which helped people financially like a person the author mention named “Katie Feeney” who can now pay to go to school.

I currently don’t post on social media anymore but when I did, I used it to message my friends or post pictures of the interesting places I got to go to. Instagram and Snapchat were the only two social media platforms I used, but now I just use Instagram and TikTok for entertainment, but I no longer post. The way Snapchat users can earn a large commission for posting short videos showed me that I have more opportunities to make a lot of money just by doing something as simple as posting an interesting short video. But no, I wouldn’t go back to posting on social media because it’s not for me, but I enjoy others doing it and give them my support.
