In the article “Snapchat Wants You To Post. It’s Willing to Pay Millions” By Taylor Lorenz, it introduces a particular topic about how a teenager with 7 million followers on TikTok, made a viral video on a Coca-Cola bottle exploding on the Snapchat app. He posted a short video on Spotlight, which is a feature that Snapchat presented for users to post short clips about their daily activities. After Cam Casey made the video of the bottle experiment, Snapchat got in contact with him to join their team and upload content to expand the feature “Spotlight”. This led to Casey making Hundreds of thousands of dollars at such an early age due to putting his creativity on display in front of millions of people. Other young social media influencers started to create viral content on the platform of TikTok and Snapchat, instantly becoming overnight internet sensations and providing the idea of making millions of dollars for short cool videos. My social media experience is just a normal guideline of reposting posts on Instagram, texting important people in my life, and keeping myself up to date when big events are happening or has happened. Playing the game Fakey was pretty cool, it helped me navigate the types of sources that could be true or false and not letting the users get tricked into reading any article that is shown to them online. It’s always important to look into your sources carefully and making sure that it is coming from the mainstream media.
