Summary
The article "Snapchat wants you to post. It is willing to pay millions" by Taylor Lorenz talks about social media and it's endless possibilities. The article focuses mainly on a snapchat feature called "spotlight" which has become a major source of income for most young people. From the article, we are made aware of the fact that there is not a specific kind of person who can earn from this app, but it is easily accessible by anyone and they can earn from it so far as they have good amount of views. The article adds that even though this app pays doesn’t mean its what everyone is going for as it is in constant competition with "tiktok" which seems to be getting all the attention. Due to this sense of competition between these social media apps, snapchat is constantly evolving to accommodate change. The article includes some challenges people face on these social media apps as engagers of it but are motivated by the pay, which keeps them going.
My social media experience is nothing interesting I would say. I go to social media when I need to reply to someone ,or check up on my friends in Ghana .Sometimes I find myself scrolling mindlessly even when I have important things to do. Sometimes, I go a whole week without social media because there is just a lot of negativity there and taking all that in sometimes makes you question your reality .I have actually grown past that realm by the grace of God but sometimes , its just hard. Reading his article has opened up my mind in the sense that instead of scrolling why don’t I use that time to post something but I am not sure I ever will because it feels like a lot of work to me. Playing Fakey taught me that I do not know how to use social media because at some point I was in a hurry to share false information without even knowing if it was false or not. I also liked everything I saw whether I understood it or not and all this isn’t different from how I actually use my social media so I have learnt be more mindful of the things I share and the things I like .

Heyy patricia you mentioned that sometimes you take breaks from the media due to the negativity that comes with it. I totally agree social media after a while of doomscrollling can be a lot and even I’m the same way when social media becomes too much to handle I do find myself logging out to get away from it. everryones definitely had my different phases with social media rather good or bad and i also like how you summarize the article helps break down the article .
I also agree that it’s always good just to step away from social media. It can hero destress or just not be as addicted to it as so many people are. It can be a lot for someone even at a young age to deal with hate. I think kids are to into social media at such a young age and that it should be stopped. Social media is such a dangerous place sometimes for kids to handle.
