Introductions

Hello All! I am looking forward to working with you this semester. You may call me Al (that’s spelled ay el, not ay eye). My pronouns are they/them. I have been teaching at BMCC since Spring 2019 and before that, I’ve been teaching at NYU and The New School since 2015. I’m really grateful to be working here with the committed faculty and students I have met. I believe that anyone can learn economics because everybody engages with their local economy as part of daily living! Please respond in a comment below to introduce yourself. To do so click “Leave a Comment” up top. Please note, everything posted to this website is viewable to the entire BMCC OpenLab community. If you prefer, you’re welcome to email me instead but please do respond. Please include:
  • Your Name (as registered)
  • Your Nickname (how you want to be addressed in class)
  • Pronoun (how you want to be addressed in addition to your name)
  • Why you are taking this class
  • Something that helps you learn
  • Something you enjoy

  1. Teyana Harry

    Hello!
My name is Teyana Harry. I’d like to be addressed by my first name, Teyana. My pronouns are she, her. I am taking this class because I want to learn more about the economy and how it functions as a whole. I know there is more to it. Something that helps me to learn is to look at visuals. It makes the lesson clearer and easier for me to comprehend and understand. I enjoy listening to music and watching series.

    1. Mohammed R Ali

      Good afternoon,

My name is Mohammed Ali, my nickname is Mo. My pronouns are him/he . My exposure to economics were very singular where the definition of economics were supply and demand of finite resources.
I’m hoping this class brings me a new understanding of what economics truly is and how the system works. Something that helps me learn is watching videos so that I can freely pause and rewind on information. I enjoy listening to podcasts and working out.

  2. Raphael Munoz

    Hello,
My name is Raphael Munoz. I go by Raph, or Raphael. My pronouns are he, him. I am a returning student from dropping out 3-4 years ago. My major is Economics because I want to learn why the economy fluctuates so frequently. I also want to learn why the market crashes and why it flourishes. Something that helps me learn is comparing it to a real-life event, a current event will be better. I enjoy watching sports, gaming, and going out to eat at restaurants.
