Frances Murphy
Hi everyone! My name is Frances. I am a classically-trained musician (piano and voice). I had the opportunity to finish my Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Memphis major in Collaborative Piano before coming to the city. While employed in a youth organization, I worked with school-age children in school programs and summer camp for 10 years. During that time, I was assigned to teach Physical Education to ages 2-5 years old in a Jewish early learning center in Riverdale, and did it for 4 years. I definitely fell in love with the age group! Nevertheless, the world of Early Childhood is new to me, and I always believe that you cannot give what you do not have. Eventually, I was able to complete my 18 credits of Children’s Program Administrator Credential at CUNY School of Professional Studies. However, upon submission of my ePortfolio to the NY Early Childhood Professional Development Institute, I was advised to take 18 credits of Early Childhood courses. Hence, here I am.
I am looking forward to learning from Prof. Jen and from all of you!
