At the end of the semester you will determine your grade for ECE 209 based on your self-assessment of what you have learned. In preparation for your self-assessment, answer the questions below; you will answer these questions at the end of each module so you have a record of what you have learned over the semester. You can answer the questions here on Open Lab or create a journal on Blackboard (which would be private).
- What did you learn in this module?
- Information/ knowledge
- Skills
- Insights (connections you made or “ah-ha’s” you had about the material)
- How will the material from this module better prepare you to work with infants?
This weeks module has been hard for me because of personal issues but I learned a lot about Infants and the sensory process. This material from this module with help prepare me when I work with infants by using sensory play assembles nerve associations in the mind’s pathways, which lead to the kid’s capacity to finish more perplexing learning undertakings. Sensory play upholds language advancement, intellectual development, fine and gross motor abilities, critical thinking abilities, and social communication.
This week module, I learned more into depth of the sensory and how important it is in a child life.
I reviewed this activity
In this weeks module I learned the importance it is for infants to be exposed to sensory play but to not over stimulate because they would not be able to grasp everything and throw a tantrum. I will limit sensory play and be sure to expose them to different play, not all at once but throughout the week or months.
I learned how sensory experiences shape infant’s learning. Through touch, sight, sound, taste and smell, children are discovering the world around them.
In this module, I also learned about the transition to group care from home visits. How important it is to meet families where they are, in order to learn about their care. Once the infant is ready to go a learning program with other infants/toddlers, the care can be phased in with family participation.
My “A-ha” moment was learning about the meaning of “Inserimento Individuale”, a terminology used to apply to the individual introduction of children and families into infant care.
I learned about the importance of sensory play and how to implement sensory activities and areas in the infant classroom to promote their learning
In this module, I learned about sensory processing and how this has an impact on babies.
