A Professional Development Plan (PDP) is an outline of your career objectives, strengths, areas where you can continue to grow, and the steps you plan to take to reach your goals. A PDP is an evolving document — it changes as you travel on your career path. However, completing a PDP is the first step in achieving your future career aspirations!

Do you want to be an ECI (infant-toddler) or ECP (preschool) major? Why?
I would prefer to be in ECP rather than ECI because their language development would be in a place where they can orally communicate their feelings toward me, being able to participate in a conversation with my student is something that appeals to me. If I go into ECI, I will not be able to perform this activity with the infant, forcing me to question if I understand their needs. This type of situation would be stress for me.
What qualities do you have that will help you be successful working with your chosen age group?
I have strong communication skills. I also would be able to engage with my preschool students in a manner that would be appropriate to them since I have a level of sensivity that would respect their emotions which will be in the beginning stages of development, an emotional complexity that is unique from child to child and that would not exist in the development stage of the infant.
What skills would you like to develop that will help you be more effective working with that age group?
I would like to develop my lesson plan skills, making sure that I come up with activities that are engaging, culturally respectful, and appropriate for their stage is a goal that I wish to develop on.
What are your career goals?
I would like teach at a public school in Pre-K, preferably home room.
What steps will you take to achieve those career goals?
Achieve associates in ECE
Receive Bachelor’s in ECE from Hunter College
Acquire job in a Pre-K school, either public or private
Transition into pediatricians which is my long-term goal, my experience in Pre-K would transfer over to that giving me a better understanding of how to deal with children
