The cult story that I chose is the “Manson Family”. The leader, Charles Manson grew up in an abusive family and already had formed himself a criminal record before his years of forming a cult. He proceeded to move to LA to achieve his dream of becoming a singer and songwriter. He took guitar lessons and studied things like religion and scientology in order to learn how to control others. He then moved to San Francisco where he portrayed himself as a religious philosopher to persuade women to join his cult. He also trade sex with them for favors. Since Manson got denied from the music industry due to lack of talent and his aggressive personality, he moved back alongside the “Manson Family” to LA to get revenge on being rejected. They committed many acts of violence and murder, but the most popular was the Sharon Tate and LaBianca murders. Sharon Tate who was an actress, was killed when she 8.5 months pregnant since she was renting an estate alongside the filmmaker, Roman Polanski, where the music producer that rejected Manson used to live at. Tate, 3 of her friends and a random teenager who was near the scene were all brutally murdered that day. Leno LaBianca who was a wealthy grocer, was tied up alongside his wife and they were brutally killed. To avoid being enlisted in a cult like the Manson Family is if you’re not troubled mentally and if you aren’t religious. Obviously you can avoid by not falling for the bribing tricks that Manson used to gain followers.
