Summary
"Leave No Trace" is a movie about a father and a daughter living in the wood away from society. When they are found and brought back, they face some struggle to adjust to a normal life. The moral dilemma happened when Will, the father and his daughter are discovered living in a public park. They are offered assistance and shelter by the authorities. However Will, wanting freedom and self-sufficiency, prefers to live in isolation from society.
1.I would follow my conscience: Will might choose to follow his conscience and continue to live in the wood with his daughter. Plus by following his conscience he will stay true to himself.
2.I don't know what I would do: Will ,between his desire to live freely in the wood and giving his daughter a better life by accepting help, will lead him to indecision.He internally knows that accepting help will be better for his daughter's life , however the wood's life is what he knows the best and feel at ease the most.
3.I would do whatever would improve my situation: Will could decide to accept the social worker assistance if he believes it would provide a better way of living to his daughter. By providing her safety, access to resources and a better education.
4.I would do what God or the scriptures says is right : Philippians 4:11(NIV)-12:"I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want" This passage take side with the father finding peace regardless of circumstances. Even if there is a lot of struggle by living in the hood, contentment is the way to go.
5.I would do whatever made me happy: Will, will prioritize his own happiness by choosing to live in the wood. Regardless of benefit living a normal even if it means rejecting the help offered by the social worker and putting his daughter to a challenging life.
6.I would follow the advice of an authority figure:Will could choose the assistance of the authority figure rather than fly away whenever he had the opportunity. By trusting their judgement and opening his heart a little bit more, he will do what's best for him and his daughter Tom.
7.I would do what's best for everyone:Will, considering factors like safety, health and opportunity for a better life will accept the help of the social worker.It will provide his daughter a better life filled with joy and new experience even if it means for him to adapt to a life that do not fit him well.
While I understand Will's desire for freedom, I believe by accepting help would lead to a better result for him and Tom in many aspects such as safety and stability.In his place, I will choose overall well-being for the sake of everyone involve in the situation.It might be difficult for him because of his mental condition but a better life for his daughter should be taken into account.
