Conversation 7: Fallacies

Summary

Fallacy: Composition/Division

Definition: The mistaken belief that if one part is composed of something specific, all the others, or the entire body must be composed of that "specific" in the same way.

Example: Jack's body is made up of 70% of water; therefore, he thinks he don't need to drink water since he's full of that substance. Time later, he gets dehydrated and die due to lack of H20.

Explanation: The fact that Jack is composed mostly of water does not mean that he doesn't need to drink water. Jack needs to drink water in order to compensate the different functions of his body.
