Summary
"The Paradox of Choice" by Barry Schwartz
Conclusion: Having too many choices lead to increased paralysis and depressed satisfaction, so secret to happiness is low expectations.
Premise: When having so many choices your expectations rise, because you are thinking one has to be perfect, you'll never be satisfied meaning you'll never be happy.
"From the 'perfect' salary to keeping up with the Joneses, here's how money really affects your happiness" by Cory Stieg
Conclusion: Money itself does not make us happy but rather the things we do with money.
Premise: Spending money on things like, personal growth and helping people as well as the community can contribute to happiness. Using your money to help others and connect with them like a dinner or traveling can also make you happy and feel better about yourself.
My conclusion: Money itself does not make us happy but rather the things we do with money.
Premise: When spending on things that matter and benefit us in a better way can of course make us happy. Having money and helping those in need or even just bettering ourselves like therapy is very beneficial to mental health so we then feel good.
