conversation #4

For conversation 4 the article I read was about the Manson family cult. The Manson family, led by Charles Manson is one of the most infamous cults in modern history. Operating during the late 1960s: on a ranch in California with his magnetic personality and ability to captivate others Manson attracted young people who were searching for purpose and belonging he exerted control over his followers through psychological manipulation, drug-induced mind control, and physical intimidation his followers were also forced to isolate from the outside world. Manson’s twisted ideology, which he called “Helter Skelter,” named after a Beatles song. Manson convinced his followers that they were chosen ones who would survive the chaos and emerge as rulers of a new world order. He convinced his followers, mostly young women, to carry out a series of gruesome killings including the infamous Tate LaBianca murders in 1969. To avoid being enlisted in a cult like the Manson Family, it is important to stay informed and educated about the tactics that cults use to manipulate and control their members.
