Summary

In the music video Beyonce made, she showed themes of being uplifting black women and embracing the color of her skin. She talks about the allegations that come with the fame along with just flaunting her success in the through the lyrics. Are those messages/ themes similar to your initial reaction to the song and video? My initial reaction is that I understand where she was coming from, why she feels a need to speak on it. I personally have some background on her and Jay-z relationship so I thought some things in the song were definitely lore accurate. Maktosukas helped Beyonce coney her message of power to black women by showing females in the video that were in unity. She speaks on and flaunts her own success making her confident in her ability to get things done that not other can do, hints the line, “I just might be a black Bill Gates in the making”. Rhetorical devices that can be found are hyperbole(“I got hot sauce in my bag, swag”) and Dysphemism(“Y’all haters corny with that Illuminati mess”). They convey a way of understanding or differentiation of what she means by what she says cause in a lot of music not everything is to be taking at face value. I feel the song is contiversial because Jay-z name was tied in the mix of their ongoing relationship with each other.
