Critical thinking is a way of thinking in which a person does not involve personal biases, accepts different points of view, and analyzes them to come up with an objective solution finally.
The first speaker uses Dr. Richard Paul’s quote to define critical thinking. The speaker explains that critical thinking is a skill that we acquire with time and practice, a skill that helps us see how a person sees the world. In critical thinking, we analyze and evaluate thoughts by reconstructing the person’s reasoning.
In the other video, the speaker starts the TedTalk by saying, “Teach kids how to think, not what to think.” He immediately explains how, throughout history, we have been taught many different subjects and things about the world we live in. Still, we have never been taught how to retain and analyze that information. The speaker also talks about how education should be more engaging; in that way, kids feel more curious about learning.
I agree with the speaker; it is important to improve how we are taught in high school because some subjects are very hard to keep up with when all we do in class is reading. Finding more exciting and interesting ways of teaching can cause kids to be more curious and interested in the subject, which opens many sources of information in which the kids can start practicing critical thinking from a very young age.
Critical thinking is one of the most important skills that we have.

Hey Jia, I agree with your conversation especially the last paragraph. I was also thinking about how they should apply critical thinking in high schools because it’s not taught or applied and it can definitely make a positive impact in our lives.
