Critical thinking is being able to use logic and reasoning to make rational decisions and judgments. In the first video the speaker Gary Meegan quoted Dr Richard Paul’s definition of critical thinking he stated that critical thinking is the art of analyzing and evaluating thinking to improve it. When I first saw the quote I didn’t understand what he meant. It seemed too wordy. I still don’t understand what he means. Maybe it’s because he used words like analyzing and evaluating and I was too focused on those words specifically, but I could understand some of them. The speaker believes critical thinking is important because critical thinking can help us better understand how others think and how you and I think. I agree with Gary on the importance of critical thinking because critical thinking allows us to make smart decisions in complicated situations by Taking it apart, breaking it down, and seeing it from a different viewpoint we can come up with a better solution. In the second video, Dr Jesse Richardson is a well-informed man he just talks a lot and I kept getting lost in what he said but what stuck out to me the most was when he said that the most important thing critical thinking teaches us is that it’s good to be wrong that the idea we hold isn’t us and that we don’t need to defend them to the death that we can change those ideas. I completely agree with this statement if you were to tell this to somebody they would most likely be upset but it’s not bad to admit that you are wrong it’s not like it’s the end of the world for most people it might be that’s why they defend their argument so much but that doesn’t mean you are wrong entirely like it’s okay to change your mind once you’ve heard the other side I do it all the time I’ll admit when I’m wrong because I’m not perfect I have my flaws we all have some sort of flaws
